Duck soup (in the traditional sense) is meant to be used as a supplement to your ferret's regular kibble diet, or as a bland, easy to digest, high protein diet for sick ferrets. It can help to put or keep weight on a ferret when used daily as well. Most of the recipes listed below will not meet your ferret's daily nutritional needs on their own, but they work very well as a supplement.

It is important to get your ferret used to duck soup before he actually needs it. Start when your ferret is young (or as soon as you get your ferret) by giving him duck soup as a treat two to three times a week. Even if your ferret doesn't like the duck soup the first time, keep trying! It will most likely take him a few times to realize that it's food.
