F.U.R.R.Y. (Ferrets Underfoot Running Round You) is a Missouri non-profit corporation and 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the welfare of ferrets. Kurt and Sara Petersen founded it in March 1997 as a ferret club, but it quickly grew to become a ferret shelter and adoption agency as well. F.U.R.R.Y. works with many local animal control agencies to take in any ferrets that they may receive. As of October 15, 2001, F.U.R.R.Y. had taken in 642 ferrets and found new homes for 557 of them. It had also reunited four lost ferrets with their families. F.U.R.R.Y. has placed ferrets in 14 states, thanks mostly to the power of the Internet.
